With a focus on patient care and education, Dr. Tyler Rushforth is the owner and physician at Rushforth Family Care.
A graduate of Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine (2019), Dr. Rushforth has a passion for rural medicine. He took pride in his work serving those at Cahaba Medical Center during his residency and upon completion, received multiple awards, including Resident Teacher Award and Humanism in Medicine Award. He continues to participate in teaching residents and students through virtual lectures and by being a preceptor for Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine third and fourth year students. After his residency, he accepted a family medicine position in Cullman, Alabama. His decision to start his private practice is driven by his desire to continue to serve the people of Cullman and the surrounding communities.
As an undergraduate Dr Rushforth did research on Type 1 Diabetes and ABO blood type prevalence. In medical school he worked with fellow medical students to research Hyperhidrosis specifically genetic polymorphism analysis. The findings of that study were presented at the International Investigative Dermatology Conference in 2018.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Rushforth enjoys traveling and spending time with his wife and kids. As a family, they explore the outdoors and like to plan their next trip to Disney World or Dollywood. He ran his first half marathon Nov 2022 and continues to train for future races. Dr. Rushforth also sings and plays video games as forms of self-care.
